The Terre Haute Community Band will take a musical flight
into the mysteries of outer space that have intrigued mankind for
centuries. The adventurous and curious

John Williams “Fantasy of Flight” offers a medley of movie themes that most of the audience will find very familiar. “E.T., the Extra-Terrestrial” and “Hedwig’s Theme” from “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” represent only two of the many films scored by this award winning composer.
“Mars, the Bringer of War” is the first of Gustav Holst’s seven “Planet” compositions. Holtz seemed to consider “The Planets” a progression of life. “Mars” perhaps serves as a rocky and tormenting beginning. In fact, some have called this movement the most devastating piece of music ever written!
No exploration of the skies would be complete without a look at the romantic possibilities and no song does that any better than Hoagy Carmichael’s “Stardust”. The “Symphonic Suite from Star Trek” is the music from the most recent Star Trek movie, covering the early years of Captain Kirk, Spock, Scotty, etc. Arranger Jay Bocock has masterfully put the best parts of the movie soundtrack together.
A new acquisition for the band, “To Sail Beyond
the Stars” by Timothy Loest was commissioned by the
